We shouldn’t be afraid of the old, loud men in the wooden churches, handling snakes and not apologizing. The real threat is the youth pastor in khakhi shorts, whose secret fears and evils are hidden in a shell that convinces the world he’s “one of the good guys”, and his love of video games and Alt-Rock somehow innoculate the dangerous worldview that seeps subtly from his brain to those of children.
